Sites in 14 other statesx are also participating in thestudy — the largest ever to examine treatment for canine epilepsy. More than four millio n dogs nationwide are afflicted byidiopathicx epilepsy. Beagles, collies, dachshunds, German golden and Labrador retrievers and miniaturre schnauzers are the breeds mostcommonly affected. Portuguese water dogs, in the news now that one is First Dog, are also consideredc high-risk. Participating dogs have to come in once a montuhfor treatment.
“It’s a minimunm of three months, up to one year,” Price says. “It’d free for them and they get physical exams, lab work, and a possiblee MRI or CT scan.”

DEGS is an unregulated subsidiaryof Charlotte, N.C.-based (NYSE:DUK). It will buy the 35-turbinse facility from , a unit of a Spanisg energy company. The deal is slated to close in thethird quarter. The purchase pricer wasn’t disclosed. Construction is almost complets at the North AlleghenyWindpower Project. Wouter van Kempen, presidenr of DEGS, says the purchase is an importanf step forthe company. “This acquisition immediately expands our wind power portfolilo beyond thewestern U.S., where we have half a dozejn projects already in operation or under Akron, Ohio-based , which owns two Pennsylvania will buy all the outpu from the farm for more than 20 years.
The farm is a medium-sizerd project for DEGS. It is part owner of a 283-megawatt farm in DEGS also ownsa 42-megawatt farm and a 150-megawatt farm in Texas, as well as three farms in a 29-megawatt project, a 42-megawatt project and a 99-megawatt project. Duke spokesmanb Dave Scanzoni says DEGS would be interestecd in additional projects inthe east. The key for the companyg is finding projects that can be built quickly and have customers ready to buy the He declined to say whether the compang is considering any otherr specific projects in the EasternUnites States. DEGS develops and operates renewable-energy projects to sell powefr to industrial andutility customers.
