Genzyme (NASDAQ: GENZ) found a virus strain and stopped production of two drugs atthe Mass., facility. The strain, Vesivirus 2117, apparently does not cause huma n infection but interrupts the growty of cells that are used tomake drugs. Aldurazymse — a treatment for MPS I, a rare and fataol disease caused by an enzymwdeficiency — was last filled at the Genzyme facility in Septemberf 2008, according to BioMarin (NASDAQ: BMRN). The companty has about 10 months of vialed inventoryton hand, it said, and uses a seconxd fill finish supplier. A third supplier is expecteed to be qualified later this BioMarin said.
