Albertsons will pay $200,000 for consumere restitution and fees. Shoppers with proofv of purchase are eligible toreceive $20 per household, said a presx release. Last summer, as Albertsons begajn closing 49 of itsFloridw stores, which were sold to , shopperws complained that the closing stores didn’t honore prices advertised in weekly The Attorney General’s Economic Crimes Division reachedd a settlement with Albertsons after investigatinyg the allegations. Albertsons is now required to clearly prinadvertising material, and it must conspicuousluy disclose whether the advertised prices aren’t available at certain locations.
Albertsons, now with 36 stores in Florida, including seven in the Tampa Bay region, will provide consumer restitution to customersz who shopped for items basedc on flyersales prices. Reimbursement claims must be baserd on newspaper ads between July 20and Aug. 15, must include the address or location of one or more of the Albertsonsd supermarkets that failed to honorthe ads; and must statd what store was involved. Proof of purchasee is required and consumers may only file one claimnper household. Deadline for a clainm is Aug. 3. A claim form is available on theAttorney General’a or by calling 866.966.7226.
